Zero Tolerance Domestic and Family Violence Policy

Zero Tolerance Domestic and Family Violence Policy

This policy outlines our approach to Domestic and Family Violence and Procedures for dealing with abusers and the abused. We take a Zero Tolerance approach to domestic and family violence. The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Promote safety
  • Identify processes for dealing with domestic and family violence issues
  • Identify responsibility for dealing with issues

Everyone must:

  • report incidences of domestic and family violence to management immediately
  • comfort and support those involved
  • Excercise discretion to avoid exasserbating the issue or further endangering the victim

Managers may:

  • Report the issue to police if not already done
  • Provide access to support lines
  • Protect confidentiality (particularly if “going public” will worsen the situation and safety of the victim)
  • Discuss with the victim their options for a safe place to stay or allow
  • Allow time away or leave to deal domestic and family violence issues
