PPC
Ads are a great way to attract new attention to your business. Ads are not the answer to gaining new business but are an important part of an overall strategy. Many people expect ads to be like a cash machine where putting one dollar in means getting two dollars out. While pay per click ads (PPC ads) may bring visitors to your site, its important to note that this is a short term solution and that you should be working on your search engine optimisation (SEO). Doing both together reduces your overall cost per click, makes ads cheaper and brings more traffic to your website.
SEO
Search Engine Optimisation or SEO consists of making pages load faster, making the content readable with keywords and a range of other technical details. There is on page SEO and off page SEO. On page is everything that can be done on the website. This can include making image file sizes smaller so that the page loads faster. Off page SEO is exactly what it sounds like, it includes creating blogs on other sites such as listing websites and creating backlinks to your main site. SEO is what search engines use to prioritise what search results are displayed to the user.
Directing traffic to your website is not the end of the story. Your site needs to load quickly, you need to have a compelling reason for someone to buy or to fill out your form such as a lead magnet.
Landing pages have a specific theme and address a specific issue. Your landing pages should not try to everything that your main website does. A landing page should be relevant to the keyword that the user searched. That way the user will find relevant information to what they are searching for and are more likely to make a purchase or exchange their information in something like a webform or booking link. This can be incentivised with a lead magnet such as a checklist or a whitepaper. The more you optimise your website for conversions, the less you will pay for ads overall.
